The nodes of the first cryptocurrency underwent a positive reconfiguration of the mining difficulty, which indicates the inclusion of additional miners in the network.
This adjustment is not much different from those since August 2020, but it continues an impressive series of seven consecutive positive adjustments.
As a result, for the first time in five months, the difficulty of mining on the Bitcoin (BTC) network again exceeded 20 Tx / s.
A series of seven positive adjustments is rare; the latter began at the beginning of the third quarter of 2019, when the bitcoin markets began to recover from the crypto winter.
The difficulty of mining Bitcoin is automatically adjusted every 2016 blocks (approximately every two weeks) so that the block generation time remains stable at about 10 minutes.
Thus, when the number of active miners is too large, the difficulty increases dramatically, and when the miners turn off their hardware, the difficulty decreases.
For example, in the second-third quarter of 2021, when most Chinese miners moved their rigs out of the country, in less than two months, the difficulty dropped by almost 50%.
However, after seven positive adjustments, Bitcoin's mining difficulty has fully recovered from the massive downturn.
